Ball Flare and PAP

Postby jstreet » Sat Feb 04, 2006 2:52 pm

With the flare on equipment today, placing a piece of tape on my old pap results in a stable position for the first 20' and then the flare kicks in and is unstable through the pin deck... my pap was 5 1/8 up 1/8 ...now? my track has lowered over the past year and a half so I know my pap has moved as well. need help. Thanks.

If your PAP is stable for the first few seconds on the lane your PAP has not changed. With the flare your PAP will migrate. Most of the stronger cores tend to lower the track. If you take a ball with very little flare (Plastic/urethane) I'll bet your track is about the same as it was in the past.

Spigner had an article in Bowler's digest, the article had pictures of three balls rolled by the same bowler, the tracks were marked. Each ball had a different track. High rev players will get flare in the air with today's weight blocks. If it's flaring the PAP is migrating I believe.
