Learning to Drill Bowling Balls

Postby dR3w » Mon Jul 19, 2004 2:23 pm

Hi,

I am interested in learning how to drill bowling balls. At the current time, I have worked with a friend, who used to operate a prop shop as a side business. I have layed out and drilled some of my own equipment, but I still have a lot of basic questions:

1. Are there schools or clinics where people can go to learn to drill? I think that IBPSIA has some classes, but I am not sure.

2. Are there some official levels, or certifications for drilling, or can anyone do it?

3. Do you have to have a pro shop license, or business license of some sort to do this kind of work. I guess that as a hobby I wouldn't have to, but am not sure.

I am not interested in this as a career, but more as a hobby. I bowl a lot, and have interest in the subject, but am not looking to make a business out of it.

Any information that anyone can provide would be highly appreciated.

The IBPSIA course is very good. I think it takes four days. Contact the IBPSIA for exact details. Their website lists a number you can call.

You will need a business license to join the IBPSIA but I think they allow non members to take the course. Call them and get all the details.

Thanks for sharing that Jim. I value your judgement and endorsements. This is an aspect of the sport that I want to learn about too if and when I can.

Hope all is well.
