The Motiv Forza uses a new solid coverstock that is paired with a new symmetrical core shape. The Forza’s Torx core offers bowlers a medium low RG with a high differential. The Helix Solid Reactive coverstock is able to grab the lane through even the slickest of oils, thanks in part to its 3000 grit sanded box finish.

The Forza was best for us on our heavy test pattern. Stroker was able to take advantage of the early traction on the lane and the big amount of total hook. His lower rev rate kept the Forza on target with a straighter trajectory. This ball’s strong cover provided plenty of total motion while being earlier and smoother than the Jackal. Tweener and Cranker also had good looks on this pattern with the box finish. They were able to stay left of Stroker, but they saw a few corners start popping up the farther left they moved. They started lofting the ball ever so slightly more than their normal deliveries and this resulted in the Forza starting to strike again. We did not have to alter the surface at all on this pattern.

On the medium pattern, Tweener and Stroker both liked their reaction with the box finish. They were able to start farther left and still see plenty of hook in the midlane. The strong read gave them just enough back end to kick out the corner consistently. Cranker had way too much early hook with the box finish. He took his Forza to the spinner to shine up the surface with Power Gel Polish. The polished cover really helped get the ball down the lane for him.

We found the box finish to be best for our sport pattern. The Helix Solid Reactive cover created plenty of traction on this flatter oil pattern. The Forza would be our first choice out of the Motiv bag for the fresh if we were bowling on any sport conditions with medium to heavy volumes. This ball was smoother and more arc-shaped going down the lane on this pattern than the Jackal.

The new Helix Solid Reactive provides a smoother, continuous motion on heavy oil conditions. The motion from this cover is smoother than other heavy oil balls in the Motiv line, such as the Jackal.

The 3000 Grit LSS box finish provides plenty of teeth to chew through the heaviest of oil. This rough box finish helps the Forza to start hooking earlier than nearly any other Motiv release.
Back End

For as early as the Forza picks up the lane, the amount of back end reaction is pretty impressive. We had the most success while keeping our angles in the front of the lane straighter, but we could still avoid flat hits when we threw the Forza away from the headpin.
Total Hook
(1-100)

The Forza will be just under the Jackal in the total hook department. The rough box finish should allow even the lowest rev rate bowlers to see a decent amount of total hook.

Strengths: The Forza’s ability to retain as much energy for the back of the lane as it does after creating such a footprint in the front of the lane is its biggest strength. The Forza can create traction on anything it sees.

Weaknesses: At the box finish, the Forza is prone to hooking early on the lane if there is not a significant amount of oil volume in the heads. Polishing the cover will help resolve this weakness.

Overall Summary: The Forza adds a new shape on heavy oil patterns to Motiv’s line. The Forza will be earlier and smoother than the Jackal on heavy volumes of oil.
