Equipment Reviews You Can Trust
A bowling ball can be a big investment...No one wants to make a $250 mistake. That's why we take testing and reviewing the latest bowling equipment so seriously. Here are some highlights of our ball testing and review program:
- A single unified rating system: All balls are rated on our four-point performance rating scale so you can reliably compare balls across all the different brands.
- Multiple bowler styles: You need ball reviews that you can relate to. That's why we use three separate ball testers that cover a wide spectrum of bowler styles.
- Varied test oil patterns: We don't all bowl on the same type of conditions. BTM tests bowling balls on four different oil patterns...from wet to medium to dry to Sport-compliant.
- Interactive ball comparison tools: Sometimes, what you really want is to compare balls to each other. That's why we've built sortable, filterable, and customizable "At-a-Glance" tables and four-dimensional ball performance rating graphs.

Our Customers Know Us Best...Here's What They Have to Say
I have been a subscriber to BTM for over 20 years. The instructional material found here cannot be found anywhere else. I devour each issue from cover to cover. I have kept all the hard copy versions for reference. My coaching has improved. My game has improved. Thank You BTM for all the help and guidance. Keep up the good work. The online version is easier to use and can be an instant reference while coaching.
-Ken Kasprzak (Bowler and coach)
Bowling This Month is the best resource for anyone who is serious about the sport of bowling. The articles and ball reviews are clear and informative and reinforce good bowling techniques and form that will take you to the next level. Stay Informed, Strike Hard and Spare None!
-Jim Nadziejko (Bowler)
I have subscribed to BTM for several years. As a coach, it has helped me coaching the kids in our junior club to such an extent that we have had at least two in the Scotland Junior Squad for the past 9 years. The articles are well written and laid out. I will continue my subscription as long as it is being produced.
-Allan Mitchell (Bowler and coach)
I have found Bowling This Month to be an excellent way to get an independent review of bowling balls. Also as a pro shop operator it is an excellent way to have a uniform rating system among all of the companies.
-Scott Weber (Bowler, pro shop operator, and coach)
First of all, I've been a bowler for over 30 years. I've been working and running a pro shop for 18 years. I've learned so much and have met so many people from the bowling world because of BTM. I won't take up the space telling all the stories, but I will tell just one: I got to attend BTM's Super School 1997 in the Detroit area and it was the start of an eye opening experience that just keeps getting better, and all for just pennies on the dollar. Thank you.
-Tom Shepard (Bowler, pro shop operator, and coach)
I have been a BTM subscriber for years. When in paper form, I always had each issue prominently displayed. I really studied the ball reviews and referred to them often. In digital format, I use my iPad when discussing balls and show ball reviews from BTM. Very helpful. I find all the article helpful and informative.
-Jeff Fox (Bowler, pro shop operator, and coach)
In 2005, I finished the season with a 185 average, the highest average I had ever had. I was retired and wanted to know what I needed to become a PBA member. So I went to pba.com and, at the time, the requirements were to have a 200 average for two consecutive years. I said, "OK, I can do that." I started practicing every day, watched videos, took lessons and subscribed to Bowling This Month Magazine. By the end of the season in 2006, I had three 200 averages and one 197 average and for the summer I had a 209 average. I went back to pba.com to see if their requirements had changed and they had: you now needed a 200 for one season, so I joined the PBA and have been a member ever since (except for a short time when I was ill). I joined when I was 61 years old and have cashed three times in regionals. The technical information about balls and tips about the game of bowling from Bowling this Month has continued to help me improve my game. Since 2005 when I had that 185, I have improved my average 31 pins. I finished last season with a 216, 215, 214, 214 and also, alas, a 198 (ugh). I have corresponded with various authors of the articles of BTM and have been given some sage advice. I would recommend this magazine (even though it is online only now) to anyone wishing to improve their game of bowling.
-Ken Smith (Bowler)
I have been with BTM almost since the start, love it, support it and recommend it to all my customers and friends in Australia. BTM has given me so much information and inspiration for seminars and clinics that I have conducted over the years. It is simply the best magazine in the world for serious bowlers. Keep up the good work.
-Patrick Birtig (Bowler, pro shop operator, and coach)
I am a USBC Certified Bronze Coach, and I have been a coach in a junior program for over 20 years. I use BTM as a reference guide on many occasions. I have 5 years of past issues that I keep and re-read every chance that I get. The sport of bowling is changing and BTM helps me keep up.
-Ben Wong (Bowler and coach)
It is the best and most complete information I have discovered in 20 years. I know that many players, coaches, and pro shop operators think like me all around the world. We need absolutely BTM in the future. Thanks to everybody at BTM.
-Gérard Lettree (Bowler, pro shop operator, and coach)
I often get ask when participating in Pro Am events what is the place to go for coaching, technical bowling information, or generally how to improve knowledge of the game. I always point them towards BTM, as the knowledge I have learned from BTM's authors and coaches have helped me improve and take my game to a much higher level, including a PBA regional title! Topics from the physical game, to lane play, to ball motion and the mental approach are all covered. It is a must for all serious bowlers who want to improve and continue learning more about the sport we love.
