Many bowlers underestimate the importance of their grip. From a free armswing to a more consistent release, a properly fitted bowling ball is the first step to achieving more consistency in your game.

If you haven’t already done it over the off-season, it’s never too late to have your grip checked by a certified pro shop professional. The hands change as we age, especially if you’ve gained or lost weight, so get your grip checked to verify the following:

  • Has your flexibility changed? This affects the optimal angles of the holes and the length of the span.
  • Have your fingers or thumb changed in size? Even if nothing has changed, it’s probably time to get a new set of finger inserts to improve the feel and consistency of your grip.
  • Are you experiencing any pain? Any kind of pain from the fingers to the shoulder can be affected by your grip. Let your pro shop operator know of any pain so they can make any necessary adjustments to your grip.
