Every spare is important, but there are some spares that bowlers will leave more often than others. As such, practicing a few key spares will improve your overall spare shooting without overcomplicating your practice routine:

  • Corner pins: All bowlers should practice their corners, trying to cover both the 4/7 and 6/10.
  • The 3/6/10 (2/4/7 for lefties): This multi-pin combination is extremely commonly left when bowlers go high and miss the pocket.
  • The washout: Another of the most common multi-pin spares, bowlers should practice hitting the opposite pocket with their spare ball to improve their odds of conversion.
