Everyone wants to make better decisions out on the lanes. When it comes down to it, good lane play really comes down to three things:

  • Perceive: Watch every aspect of your ball’s motion from the time it hits the lane to the time it goes off the pin deck. Pay attention to how the pins and ball deflect.
  • Process: Analyze the information to decide if you need an adjustment and to determine what to do. With experience, this can be done unconsciously. When you’re confused, make sure you take the time you need to consciously process the available information.
  • Perform: Once you’ve made a decision, commit to your desired plan and simply execute the shot.
