When it comes to versatility, the ability to use your different skills on demand is extremely important. Based on having a few different skills, here’s a fun practice routine to add variety to your training:

  • Warm up.
  • Bowl a game using each different skill. For example, bowl one game with different hand positions, one game with different speeds, etc.
  • Use dice or scrap paper to randomly select a combination of skills, such as “higher speed/lower rotation/medium loft” and try to strike. Then select a different combination and strike again. And so on.

Make sure to only use skills that you’ve already established, and not the ones that are still a work-in-progress.
